Loughborough Road Nurseries and Garden Centre Hanging Baskets

Let us plant up your hanging basket this year...

Cascading, colourful hanging baskets - what could be more reminiscent of an English cottage garden? They are a simple way to instantly introduce colour and create interest all year round - and Loughborough Road Nurseries are probably the best in Leicestershire at planting a hanging basket!

We plant summer and winter baskets to ensure you are never without some colour in your garden whatever the season.

Our customers range from public houses, restaurants and hotels to the local parish council.

Summer baskets are crammed full of our home grown plants in many colour schemes so there is always something to compliment your home, whether it is country cottage pastels or tropical eye catching brights.

We use geraniums, begonias and fuchsias as the show stoppers and, complimenting these, is an abundance of trailing plants. Beautiful from May till first frosts in October.

Winter is crammed full of polys, pansy's and violas, with thymes and heathers to add fragrance and texture, the centrepiece is evergreen, trailing ivies and beautiful flowering aubrietia cover the basket in spring.

The biggest surprise of all is the bulbs that pop up throughout spring! So look at for narcissi, iris, anemone and crocus just to mention a few! Beautiful from October right the way through until May.

Tips for a successful basket: Always try and create a well-balanced theme and use a good quality multi-purpose compost, which will hold water much better than other composts. Add water retaining granuals to your compost - remember - lack of water is the biggest killer of a hanging basket. The compost should be sloped into the middle of your basket (like a funnel), so that the water does not run over the sides when you water. Mix a slow release fertiliser into your compost which will feed your basket throughout the Summer. Occasionally add a liquid feed.
